Popular Actor, Comedian and Director Jayasekara Aponsu’s new film “Seetha Man Awa” is being screened these days. “Seetha Man Awa” is the second film directed by Jayasekara Aponsu after his first film “Ru Raa”. Even though Jayasekara Aponsu’s stage dramas like “Thatu” “Sako” and “Iri” were popular he did not have the same luck with his first film. He believe his second film “Seetha Man Awa” will be a successful one due to many reasons.

“Seetha Man Awa” is a production of Dinith Entertainments. This story has been earlier produced as a stage drama and then the producer was Sirithunga Perera.

“Seetha Man Awa” is a comedy film. The story is based on king Rawana in Ramayanaya. An Indian Charmer, Pasin Bayi (Bandula Wijeweera) find an ancient book which reveals the place that King Rawana’s body has been deposited. His body is immersed in a medicinal boat in a cave. Pasin Bayi comes to Sri Lanka and join Gayida (Rodney Warnakula) to search for the place. Ultimately they find King Rawana and King Rawana rise from death. The film contain series of incidents happening after incarnation of King Rawana.

The film cast include Jayasekara Aponsu, Bandula Wijeweera, Rodney Warnakula, Bandu Samarasingha, Chanchala Warnasuriya, Ranjith De Silva, Sarath Kulanga, Sanoja Bibile, Jeewan Haduneththi, Anuradha Kulakurasuriya and Gamini Costs.

Preferential Vote (Mnaapa Janda) list of Kurunagala District is one of the most interesting and important result in this Provincial Council Election 2013. The election was held in three provinces namely North, Central and North Western Provinces.

Even though it is the first time an election being held for Nothern Province it had not gained much attention of people living in south. Due to the cross over of Mr. Dayasiri Jayasekara a new political environment was created in the North Western Provincial Election. There has been three contenders for the chief minister position and all of them are contesting in Kurunagala District.

Mr. Johan Fernando, Mr. Athula Wijesinghe and Dayasiri Jayasekara are the main candidate who are prominent in the run to get more votes. It is said that the candidate who gain more votes will become a chief minister. Johan Fernando is the son of Minister Johnston Fernando and he does not have a must of political experience on his own. Athula Wijesinghe is the former chief minister and he has been an original Sri Lanka Freedom Party member. Having recently cross over and being popular Dayasiri Jayasekara has also been promised the chief minister position.

The main opposition candidates were former opposition leader Shamal Senarath and J.C.Alawathuwala.

Nine hundred and twenty five candidates from 13 political parties and 12 Independent Groups were contesting for Kurunagala District.

Kurunagala District preferential votes results can be expected officially on Sunday Morning and we will be publishing it as soon as it is available.

“Kandam Dasa” is the latest song by Raini Gunathilaka and Chinthy Fernando. The due released a song together few years back; It was “tharumini”. This sonf “Kandam Dasa” is a sister song of “Tharumini”

Mahendra Perera is one of the most talented actor we have in Sri Lanka. he has shown his skill in acting in cinemea, television and on stage. he also runs a acting training academy which has produced many new talented artists like Gayan Wickramathilaka. Mahendra also directed few teledramas.

Mahendra is not seen in TV frequently now as he does not appear in Mega teledramas. Not only he does not act but also this award winning talented actor is one of the artist who advocate against the Mega teledrama trend.

“Tharu Pahak Awith” is a entertainment program telecast in Derana Television on every Sunday morning. The program is presented by Narada Bakmeewawa and each week they invite five stars with something in common.

So far the program have featured singers, actors, sportsmen, etc and it was five of popular former cricketers who were invited. All of them are now busy with coaching tasks attached to Sri Lanka Cricket with the exception of Nuwan Soyza who has taken over the coaching in an Indian team.

Other than the Nuwan Soyza, Sri Lanka fast balling coach Anusha Samaranayaka, Nothern Province Sri Lanka Cricket Coach Ravindra Pushpakumara, Former Sri Lankan all rounder and current Sri Lankan Under-19 fielding coach Upul Chandana, former Sri lankan all rounder and Sri Lanka National Cricket Team’s fielding coach Ruwan Kalpage also joined the program sharing their experiences and showing their singing talent.

Anusha Samaranayaka was the first to sing a song; Anusha sang Clarance Wijegunawardana’s “Sandak Basagiya Awaragire” (1st video). Upul Chandana sang H.R.Jothipala’s popular song “Jeewithe Tharunakale” (2nd Video). Third song was “Egoda Gode Malnelana Mal Ethano” and it was sang by Anusha Samaranayaka (Video 2 – 20.34). Ravindra Pushpakara then join in singing H.R.Jothipala’s song “Adara Malpawane” (Video 3). Ruwan Kalpage sang Wijaya Kumarathunga’s “Ganga Addara Maa”.Upul Chandana finishes the program singing H.R.Jothipala’s song “Malin Piri Giya” All of them shared their lighter moments during their careers as players and coaches. Also Sri Lankan former fast baller Chaminda Vass joined by phone.

Nalin Perera is busy these days with his band in preparation for Marian’s latest musical show “Clarence unplug volume 2″. It was also rumored recently that he is now separated and he is dating a new girl. Nalin is the father of two children.

Nalin’s daughter is Swetha who is the eldest and now eighteen years old. His son, Nikil, is thirteen years old. Like their dad both of them have skills in arts. Nikil is good in drawing and Swetha is a creative girl with talent in dancing, singing and playing the piano.

Even though Nalin’s children have not made much of public appearance media which is a good thing, we found this photo of them.

The music for this song has been done by Udara Samaraweera and lyrics is by Dilan Gamage. Islandez productions has done the video with Director Sahan Abysekera.

Iraj is back again with a nice song. “Athamita Kaasi” is the latest production by long angel videos. The lyrics of this song is done by Iraj Weerarathna who has also done the video, and music of this song.

Peshala who has been a regular part of Iraj’s new creations sings this song. “Athamita Kaasi” is a song which brings the bitter truth of current music industry where people who has no talent but money get popular by spending their money to promote their songs.

Also you can witness some hilarious incidents from few popular political figures in this song.

Athula Adhikari has released his latest song “Wena Hithakata Thuruluwela”. The music and lyrics are done by Sandaruwan Jayasingha and Kasun Primal respectively and this duo have been working together in few popular songs recently.

The song is about bitter side of love and Kasun Primal has done a great work in writing this song. Video has been done “Hary Creations” with the video direction by Lahiru Mudalige. Popular teledrama actor Kavinga Perera plays the main role in this music video.

Raja Horu is the latest sinhala film and it started screening this week in C.E.L film circuit. Raja Horu is a film by Suranga De Alwis and acting cast include Sri Lankan-cinema super hero Ranjan Ramanaya, Arjuna Kamalanath, Buddhika Jayaratha, Shriyani Amarasena, Sandun Wijesiri, Roni Leech, Himali Siriwardana, Hemantha Irigama, D.B.Gangoda Thanna, Premadasa Vithanage, Erdly Wedamuni, Nishani Gamage. Raja Horu is a production of “Evoke Film Company”.

The music has been done by popular music director Sarath De Alwis. Sajitha Weeapperuma is the camera director. The film editing is by Praveen Jayarathna and Saman Padhmakumara is the art director. Samantha Mayadunna has done the fight direction of this action filled movie while Prasad Amarasekara and Nishantha Weerasinghe contributed as Assistant Directors.

Shool cut off-marks list of year-2013, Grade 5 scholarship exam was released on December 17, 2013. Grade V examination held by Sri Lanka Examination Department for Grade five student for the selection of popular schools and for scholarships.

Colombo Royal college and Vishaka College hold the first place with highest marks, both with 186,  in boy’s and girl’s schools respectively. Darmaraja College, Kandy needs in the second place in male-student schools with required score of 184. Colombo Ananda College and Maliyadewa College in Kurunagala need 183 marks.

Mahamaya Girl’s School in Kandy is in the second place in the list with required score 183. Both Devi Balika Maha Vidyalaya in Colombo and Maliyadewa Balika Maha Vidyalaya in Kurunagala need 182 marks for entrance to grade 6 in year 2014.

Among the sinhala medium mixed schools five schools share the same number of marks leading the list. Those schools are, most of them are central colleges, Pannipitiya Darmapala Vidyalaya, Horana Thakshila Vidyalaya, Veerakatiya M.M.V, Wayamba Royal College and Rathnapura Seewali M.M.V.

Colombo Nalanda College’s cut off marks for year 2013 is 181. D.S.Senanayaka College- Colombo placed in the list with required score of 180. The other popular boy’s schools in Colombo, namely Thirstan College, Mahanama College need 175 and 172 respectively.

Other popular girl’s schools in Colombo, Srima Bandaranaya Balika M.V, Nugegoda Anula College, St Paul’s – Millagiriya need 180, 177 and 175 respectively.

Among the Galle District schools, Mahinda Vidyalaya need 179 marks and Southland Girl’s School need 180 marks.

Here is the school cut off marks list of Sinhala medium, Mixed schools. While above five schools share the first place with required score of 174, Maliyadewa Adarsha Vidyalaya, Piinawala Central need 172 marks. The cut off marks for Mahinda Rajapaksha Vidyalaya in Homagama, Darmashoka College-Ambalangoda, Mahinda Rajapaksha Vidyalaya in Matara and Bandarawel Central sit at 171.

“Ridee Rayak” has been a regular show on 31st night during last eleven years. Ridee Rayak is the entertainment night by Sri Lankan cinema artists. The dancing has been directed by Channa Wijewardana. This year the show was scripted by Nilar N. Kasim. Ravindra Munasinghe directed the show for Rupavahini telecast.

As usual many famous and talented Sri Lankan actors and actresses featured in the show. Cinestar foundation organize this event each year.

This visually impaired astrologer, Indika Thotawatta, has super mental skills. In this video he shows two of his skills. In the first part of the video, he shows his ability to tell the day of any date in the past or future. This week Tharu Pahak Awith program in Derana TV featured sons and daughters of popular Sri Lankan singers. The eminent announcer Naradha Bakmeewawa present this program.

The participants were Nalin Perera’s daughter Swetha Perera, Chandani Hettiarachchi’s daughter Jacqualine Williams, Nuwan Gunawardana’s son Gayan Gunawardana, Neel Warnakulasuriya’s son Shakthi Warnakulasuriya and Keerthi Pasquel’s son Kasun Pasquel.

Swetha Perera shared that she likes music and dancing and she is a student in APITT university. Swetha likes Bollywood dancing and her favorite music is western popular music.

Shakthi Warnakulasuriya sang his dad’s song “sudo sudu”. Shakthi is also a graduate of APITT. Shakthi is more into playing drums rather than singing.

Gayan Gunawardana runs his own music studio at home and planning to release two new songs in near future. Swetha sang her dad’s “Samanala Ranak Se igili”.

It was the most senior duo of singers who featured in the Derana TV Dell Studio program this week. Rohana Baddage and Bandula Wijeeweera became popular as “Mamayi Banayi” with their first album and they together performed with new music from Mahesh Denipitiya at Dell Studio this week.

The duo first sang their duet “Kaliyuga Kaleka” which is a song composed by Rohana Baddage himself. Then they sang “Seeye Seeye” song. Both Rohana Baddage and Bandula Wijeweera sang few other popular songs.

Bandula Wijeweera sang his solo – “Kula Gedarin ” which he sang for “Hulaweli” film as the third song.

Dell Studio is a music program by Derana TV which features popular Sri Lankan artist. The significant thing of this program is that program’s music director Mahesh Denipitiya do many variations to the original musics.

Many eminent and popular musicians are part of the orchestra.

Gayathri Dias is one of Sri lankan popular actress who features in sinhala teledramas. She also runs a her own beauty saloon in Nugegoda. She is married to popular actor and film director Channa Perera.

Minister Rajitha Senarathna’s son was in the political filed organizing his dad’s political programs all this time.
